Deep-tech is no longer a niche category reserved for laboratories and research papers. It has become one of the most important drivers of long-term economic competitiveness, industrial transformation, and climate resilience.

Unlike conventional startups that focus primarily on digital services or incremental improvements, deep-tech companies are built on scientific breakthroughs and engineering innovation. They operate in fields such as advanced materials, clean energy systems, climate-smart infrastructure, carbon reduction technologies, AI for climate optimization, and circular economy solutions. These ventures typically require longer development cycles, higher technical risk, and deeper expertise—but they also deliver structural, system-level impact .

Nowhere is this more evident than in the fight against climate change.

DeepTech as a Climate Imperative

The climate crisis cannot be solved through marginal efficiency gains alone. Achieving net-zero targets, decarbonizing industry, and building resilient systems requires fundamental technological change. This is where deep-tech plays a critical role .

From new materials that reduce energy consumption, to advanced water treatment systems, to AI-enabled climate modeling and carbon capture technologies, deep-tech startups are creating solutions that can scale globally and deliver measurable environmental impact. However, these startups often face significant barriers: limited access to specialized mentorship, complex regulatory landscapes, long paths to commercialization, and a lack of investors who understand both technology and climate impact.

Launching DeepTech Clim Accelerator Serbia program

To address these challenges, DeepTech Clim Accelerator Serbia creating a dedicated platform for early-stage deep-tech climate startups to grow, validate, and scale.

The accelerator is led by EPICenter with strategic support from Climate KIC-a, one of Europe’s leading climate innovation communities.

Together, these organizations bring complementary strengths: venture building expertise, climate impact methodologies, financial instruments, and access to European innovation and investment networks.

What Makes DeepTech Clim Accelerator Serbia Different

DeepTech Clim Accelerator Serbia is designed specifically for science-driven startups at TRL 3+, acknowledging the realities of deep-tech development. The program combines expert-led masterclasses, tailored one-to-one mentorship, and structured climate impact assessment using Climate KIC.

A key feature of the program is its focus on measurable impact and investment readiness. In addition to technical and commercial support, selected startups may have the opportunity to access Climate-SAFE , a founder-friendly SAFE investment instrument offered by Climate KIC, subject to separate evaluation. This creates a bridge between early validation and future financing—without forcing premature equity decisions.

The program culminates in a Demo Day , connecting startups with investors, corporates, and ecosystem leaders, and continues with post-program support through EPICenter and Climate KIC.

Building the Next Generation of Climate Solutions

Deep-tech requires patience, expertise, and long-term vision—but it is precisely this type of innovation that will define the next decades of climate and industrial transformation. By launching the DeepTech Clim Accelerator Serbia, EPICenter, ClimateKIC, and other partners are sending a clear signal: deep-tech climate innovation deserves dedicated support, credible frameworks, and serious pathways to scale.

For founders working at the intersection of science, technology, and climate impact, this accelerator represents more than a program—it represents an ecosystem built for the challenges ahead.

Who are we?

Climate KIC is a global leader in climate innovation and entrepreneurship. For nearly 15 years, it has supported entrepreneurs and strengthened innovation ecosystems across Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. By connecting proven climate solutions with the needs of governments, corporates, and investors, Climate KIC helps translate ambitious climate goals into real-world impact. Recognised among Europe’s top start-up hubs and driven by flagship programmes such as ClimateLaunchpad and ClimAccelerator, it empowers entrepreneurs to build scalable solutions for a resilient and sustainable future.

EPICenter stands out for its ability to turn complex deep-tech and climate-tech innovations into investment-ready startups, through highly structured acceleration programs, hands-on mentorship, and direct access to international investors and corporate partners—especially at stages where technological risk is high and market validation is critical.
